Maximizing Your Reach

Want to build an effective fundraising campaign?
Our team is here to give you more details and guides on how to grow your fundraiser.
Once you have gathered your list of great items and loaded them onto the platform, it is time to start thinking about spreading the word. We’ve included a few best practices below to help ensure you maximize your reach and draw as many eyes to your auction as possible.
Pre-auction
Even as you are still building out your auction and gathering items, it is not too early to start promoting your auction. From putting a banner on your website, to announcing the upcoming auction on social media, to sending out a save the date or even soliciting items from your donor base via email and social, start getting the word out about your auction at least two weeks prior to launch (or earlier!).
Going Live
When you go live with your auction, you want to do a big push via email, social and your website announcing the auction with a link that takes donors directly to your auction. Encourage your network (board, colleagues, volunteers etc.) to help spread the word to their own personal networks. You may even try reaching out to your local radio or tv station to see if they would be willing to mention your auction/cause – some will do it for free!
During the Auction
Throughout the course of the auction, it is a great time to promote some of your most desirable items as a way of drawing interest in the auction. We find social media is a great channel for featuring a different item daily, whereas an email halfway through your auction reminding donors to ‘not miss out on these great items…’ can be very helpful to maintain momentum.

Bonus Tip
Ask your item donors if they’d be willing to share the item they donated on social media. “Hey everyone - I’m offering this item for a great cause!” Often, it opens up a network of people who may already be interested in the item, and who want to participate just because of that. This can be a great way to attract new donors to your organization!

The final few days can be the most important in terms of communication. BetterWorld automatically sends an email when there are 24 and 12 hours remaining, but make sure to share on social media too! Urgency drives action and can lead to a big push down the stretch for maximizing your participation.
